An amalgamation of groups under the platform of Groups For Democracy, have written a letter to the governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje urging him to call Alhassan Ado Doguwa, member representing Tudunwada/Doguwa federal constituency and majority leader to order, as his (Doguwa)’s political behaviours are allegedly becoming a burden on the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was contained in a statement issued by Abba Anwar , Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, on Tuesday.
SOLACEBASE recalls that a high-level meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano on Monday turned bloody when the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Doguwa attacked the deputy governorship candidate of the party, Murtala Garo.
According to DAILY NIGERIAN the incident occurred when Mr Doguwa, who was not invited to the meeting, went to see the chairman of the party, Abdullahi Abbas.
Doguwa was said to have complained that he was sidelined by the party leaders on matters pertaining to funds, but only invited to execute difficult party assignments.
“Alhassan Doguwa first engaged the deputy governor in a verbal attack before turning to Murtala Garo. He complained that Murtala ordered his boys to cover his picture on the party’s banners during Tinubu’s visit, while in reality Murtala had no hand in that,” a source said.
“At that moment, Murtala attempted to call him to order, rebuked him for his unruly behaviour and reminded him about how he abused his (Murtala’s) parents the previous night during a meeting in his (Doguwa’s) residence at Kwankwasiyya City.”
Infuriated by Mr Garo’s challenge, it was gathered that Mr Doguwa grabbed the deputy governor’s tea cup and threw it at Mr Garo.
Prior to the Monday incident, it was gathered that Mr Doguwa had allegedly poured invective on the state commissioner for Information, Mohammed Garba, for not putting his name on the schedule of speakers during Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s recent book launch in Abuja.
Another insider added that during Mr Tinubu’s visit to Kano, Mr Doguwa had also thrown a folded babanriga gown on the face of the chairman of the APC caucus in the House of Reps, Ali Wudil, for not having his (Doguwa’s) portrait on the gown.
The groups on Tuesday, jointly argued that, “His Excellency should kindly call this man to order, else he will ditch the honourable position attached to his representation. And that could not be good for the party in his constituency, Tudunwada and Doguwa.”
The letter reads, “Your Excellency Sir this is not the type of person we need as a Speaker of the House of Representatives, in the next coming Assembly.”
They also expressed worries that, “What transpired at the Deputy Governor’s residence, started by Hon Doguwa is nothing but disrespect to our Governor’s choice of gubernatorial candidate and his running mate.”
While urging the governor to kindly call Doguwa to order, the amalgamation of groups requested the governor, to beg, on their (groups) behalf, the Deputy Governor, who is the gubernatorial candidate, his running mate and other dignitaries who were present at the Deputy Governor’s residence when Doguwa did what he did, to kindly forgive the situation.
“Not only at Deputy Governor’s residence, Doguwa did other things that are unbecoming of a political leader in some other places, recently and sometimes in the past,” the letter reads.
The letter rhetorically asked, “Must Doguwa go to a meeting he was not hitherto invited at the Deputy Governor’s residence and wrecked havoc?
